ABOUT THE CHEF
Born in the mist-veiled city of Pokhara, in the shadow of Everest, Chef Arjun Gurung was immersed in Nepali cuisine from a young age, learning early on how to balance the punchy spices, fresh herbs, and bold flavours that so typify Nepali cookery. With his passion for cooking piqued, Chef Arjun's journey took him to London, where he trained in some of the city’s most acclaimed kitchens, mastering the art of finesse & refinement, all the while carrying the wild, aromatic soul of Nepal with him.
Whilst in London, Chef Arjun held Head Chef positions at acclaimed haunts like Berenjak and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, and two-Rosette-awarded Kitty Fisher’s, where he refined his touch and honed his distinctive style, leading to the formation of his own culinary concept, dubbed TipanTapan.
Chef Arjun joins table&candle to at last share his heritage through his interpretation of classic Nepali cuisine, showcasing the spirit of Nepal through majestic plates of food that are both authentic yet innovative; "it's a homage to the homeland I adore so deeply", he proudly proclaims.
